Get to know Patti Stivers...

Where do you find inspiration when starting a new project?

“When starting a new project, I find inspiration from my clients. Getting to know them and learning about their unique likes, dislikes and lifestyle inspires me to create an environment that is not only beautiful but one that is inspiring to them.”

Where did you grow up? Has that had an influence on your design aesthetic?

“I grew up in West Texas, which at first glance, might not look to be the most beautiful place in the world. However, I began to find beauty in the twisted and gnarled shapes of the old Mesquite trees in our neighborhood, the Terra Cotta red clay that stained our tennis shoes and the smiles and waves of Residents I encountered while traveling one of the many country roads.

I think that this influenced me to become open to looking for beauty and style in the sometimes, unexpected.”

What inspired (most excited) you about this year's theme / house?

“First of all the fact that “The Gang” is back working and collaborating together. I so very much enjoy the comradery between the Designers that Show House creates.

I also feel that the 2016 Show House has got a wonderful Soul about it; and offers an opportunity for our Designers to interpret that very Soul in our own unique and diverse ways.”

Is there a design rule you love to break?

“All of them!”

If you were reborn as a piece of furniture or decor object, what would it be? and why?

“I think I would be reborn as a fabulous antique mirror which has had the opportunity to absorb and reflect everything that has transpired in my space since I was hung with tender loving care. What a story I could tell!!!”

What would be your dream project?

“My dream project is always the one that transforms and brings beauty, peace, harmony and inspiration to the lives and souls that it touches”

Finish the sentence:     Every room needs _________.

“LOVE!!!”
